The sermon title has a dual meaning which the preacher might want to explore. It is both Matthew’s invite to Jesus to come and dine with him and it is the invitation he extended to his friends, the sinner bunch, who showed up at his house. It also is the title of a song from Disney’s rendition of Beauty and the Beast. It is also the petition of a common table prayer which you and your congregants might pray before every meal. We want to notice that the invitation to the other sinners is really connected to that other invitation that Matthew made that day, the invitation to Jesus to dine with him. Jesus has been gracious to Matthew. Matthew invites his friends, other sinners, who get to have the same contact with Jesus.
