It is the Fourth Sunday of Easter – Good Shepherd Sunday. Sometimes it is hard to sustain the Easter joy for this long. I know that I struggle with that sometimes. I pray you do not. But if you do, turn with me to Christ and what He says to us today. “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
We shout those words into a world which seems bent on denying them. But the preacher remembers that Jesus is speaking these words to the preacher as well. I have a message to proclaim – Jesus is the Shepherd, the Good Shepherd. He has all my foes in His vision. No one can sneak up on Him, overpower Him, or otherwise thwart His eternal good will for me.
He is risen! I can say that again with joy!
