Easter Day – 2023

If the weather cooperates, this is the view outside the parish where I preach on Sundays on Easter morning. The grey wall in the background is the back wall of St. Michael’s in Portland. It might happen this year again. We are hopeful. We come to the festival of rebirth, new life, and promise fulfilled. We come to the Festival of the Resurrection. Your congregation’s pews will likely be a little fuller this weekend. Rejoice in that. Do not be depressed when the following week they are not quite so full. Be glad for this opportunity to tell them of the love of Jesus, of His victory over death, and His gift of life to all.

The Holy Spirit will make something of that, do not worry. Rejoice in the beauty of this day no matter what the weather or the flowering cherries trees bring.
